For the best part of the last couple of months, Franck Kessie has been the centre of attention at Milan, since the Ivory Coast international has yet to renew at San Ciro.
With a contract expiring in June 2022, the midfielder will be free to talk to other clubs come January, with Liverpool often mentioned as an interested party.
This has been pushed by various members of the Italian media, with Gazzetta dello Sport doing so again on Tuesday.
Some have touted that Kessie could be involved in a swap between Milan and Inter, since Marcelo Brozovic is in a similar situation, but the newspaper dismiss that.
They state that ‘the reality is that the two Milanese clubs have already done their utmost for their offers’, and it’s ‘unthinkable’ that they would up that for other players ‘just for the sake of insulting their cousins’.
Kessie is asking for €8m, with Milan only offering €6m, ‘and there is a queue of big names in Europe to satisfy him’, with both Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool ‘in the foreground’.
With that in mind, neither Beppe Marotta nor Piero Ausilio at Inter ‘appear willing to enter the auction’, leaving the Reds and Jürgen Klopp a freer path to the Ivorian if they do indeed want him.
This comes after Mundo Deportivo claimed earlier on Tuesday that Liverpool ‘wanted’ Kessie and were ‘tempting his representative’ with a potential transfer.
