Sevilla star Jules Koundé has returned to training after his desired move to Chelsea didn’t materialise in the summer.
Monchi, the La Liga side’s sporting director, had confirmed the Blues made an offer for the defender, but it was rejected since the proposal didn’t meet their demands.
Koundé was not included in Julen Lopetegui’s squad for the clash against Elche on August 28th and the 22-year-old was hopeful he could seal a move to the west London club before the window closes.
Thomas Tuchel’s side failing to find an agreement with the Spanish club has forced the centre-back to continue for another season at Sevilla.
On Thursday, ABC Sevilla reported the France international featured in his side’s friendly tie against Alavés, after a ‘summer surrounded by controversy’ over his future.
“Koundé is our player, I am sure he will do his best to make this season successful and each year we achieve more. We have to settle in the Champions League group stage to be aspiring to greater things,” José Castro Carmona said, as quoted by Sport.
“You know that nobody beats us with ambition. We will try our best. If we have better weapons, better facilities, adequate for the moment of football we live in, there are many more people and technical and health issues, we will make better footballers or those who are better prepared for the sporting purpose.”
