Everton are showing ‘insistence’ in their efforts to sign Joaquin Correa but need to convince the player into the move.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who say Everton manager Rafa Benitez is a fan of Correa and ‘likes him a lot’.
The Blues have been linked with a move for Correa for several weeks, with it even claimed they have made a €30m bid for him.
The big problem is that Inter Milan are also reportedly keen as they look to find a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
He’s now assessing his options, and Inter Milan would ‘top almost as much’ as PSG as they can offer Champions League football and a reunion with Simone Inzaghi, who he worked with at Lazio.
Everton aren’t giving up, though, and are moving with ‘insistence’ as ‘Benitez likes him a lot’ and would welcome him gladly.
They have a ‘financial disposability’ that Lazio are aware of, the suggestion that they can get the deal they want from Everton rather than Inter.
Inter, for their part, are assessing Correa and Marcus Thuram of Borussia Monchengladbach and want to work out what either would cost before deciding who they want.
Until that point, Correa is stuck waiting, holding off Everton, who cannot give him European football and wouldn’t provide the ‘best opportunity’ to start a career in the Premier League.
The interest is there from Goodison regardless, although at this point, it seems they are being used to force Inter into a decision more than anything else.
