Leeds United will have to move quickly if they wish to sign Matheus Cunha, with a move to Atlético Madrid becoming ‘increasingly likely’.

That’s according to BILD, who say that the Spanish club may have even made a €25m bid for the Brazilian, who considers them his ‘dream club’.

Leeds have long been linked with Cunha, who it was felt Hertha Berlin could look to cash in on this summer.

We’ve covered several reports over this month about a possible move to Elland Road, although the links go as far back as May.

The latest reports were that Marcelo Bielsa’s side were in the picture for the forward, with it later stated that Cunha was ‘flirting’ with Leeds.

That report came on the 11th of this month, and there has been little about the potential transfer since that point.

It seems, though, if they are interested, they will now have to move quickly as Atlético Madrid appear to be closing in.

BILD have learned that they have already offered a €25m deal, but that’s not enough for the Germans, who want to make €30m from a sale.

Whether Diego Simeone and co will offer as much isn’t known, although reports in Spain and Italy have stated that they will.

Sky Germany have a different stance, with journalist Max Bielefeld stating that they are ‘still an option’ but looking at other targets first. He believes it remains to be seen if they really put €30m on the table.

Interestingly, though, he says that Cunha has been left out of Hertha’s squad for the clash with VfL Wolfsburg today, which suggests a move is on the cards.

Thus, Leeds need to move quickly if they want to get their man as the competition is seemingly closing in.
