Japhet Tanganga’s injury woes over the past few years have hindered his progress at Tottenham Hotspur.
The defender didn’t make a league appearance for the north London club in the first half of the previous term and was restricted to only 12 matches in the Premier League over the last two seasons.
Nuno Espírito Santo handed the 22-year-old his first start of this campaign in Spurs’ 1-0 win over Manchester City and he impressed against Pep Guardiola’s side last weekend.
TuttoMercatoWeb have covered an interview with the player’s representative, Roberto De Fanti, and the agent revealed he has received several offers to take his client on a loan deal.
“We have received many proposals for the dry loan because Tottenham firmly believes in the player and does not want to grant a sale,” the agent said.
De Fanti has not categorically ruled out the defender going out on a temporary deal before the window closes.
“The market is constantly evolving, already two years ago he had to be loaned and then [José] Mourinho made him one of the pillars of his defence before Covid,” De Fanti explained.
“There are still days before the market closes, we will see what happens. He comes from a great recognition, that is man of the match on the occasion of the last match [against City].”
Tanganga, whose contract with Spurs expires in 2025, is primarily a centre-back, but can operate anywhere across the back four. His versatility could help Nuno have more options when picking his starting XI at Tottenham.
