On June 28th, we covered claims from Turkey which stated Trabzonspor wanted to hurry up and close the signing of Ezgjan Alioski, a few days before his Leeds United contract expired.
They’d been nudged into more serious action after claims of Fenerbahce interest, and were moving forward with their transfer efforts.
On July 1st, it was then reported Trabzonspor had offered the player a €500k signing-on bonus, plus wages of €1.2m a year. At that point it was made clear Alioski hadn’t received the offers he’d expected as his contract with Leeds United came to a close.
Given he’d been a regular in Marcelo Bielsa’s side last season, the 29-year-old had likely been expecting a bigger battle for his signature, but that hasn’t materialised yet and claims of interest from Italy amounted to nothing.
Sporx now report that Alioksi has that €500k/€1.2m offer in hand and is yet to respond to Trabzonspor. ‘The player’s response is awaited’ and it’s clear he hasn’t simply agreed to the deal when it was proposed.
Whether these last minute doubts give a chance for other, perhaps more glamorous clubs, to move in remains to be seen.
