Surprising news from Italy today says that AS Roma have some kind of agreement with Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani.
The information comes from Youtuber Damiano Coccia ‘Er Faina’, who was interviewed by Calcio Mercato TV.
He claims to be sure that the Giallorossi will sign the Red Devils’ star in case they lose Edin Dzeko this summer.
“If Dzeko goes away, Cavani arrives,” Er Faina told Calcio Mercato.
“The problem isn’t Dzeko, who wants to leave, but that there’s no team that wants to take the Bosnian. There was a Juventus poll but they are unwilling to give them what they ask for.”
Edinson Cavani’s contract with Manchester United was about to expire this summer, and despite strong rumours of a move to Argentine side Boca Juniors, the striker ended up agreeing to a one-year extension with the Red Devils.
That’s one of the problems pointed out by Er Faina.
“Tiago Pinto is strongly probing Cavani, in principle there’s a basic agreement between the club and the player. The problem is that Cavani isn’t expiring and it will be necessary to give United compensation.”
Cavani had 17 goals and six assists in his first season for Manchester United, making it an undoubtedly successful first year with the Red Devils.
His contract renewal made it clear he’s happy at the club, and that’s why it’d be so strange to see him leaving the Premier League giants for Roma this summer.
Would José Mourinho’s arguments be that convincing?
