Bild are carrying on the Julian Draxler claims because, well, it’s a big story and they sort of have an obligation to try and find the player a destination.
It was to Bild that Draxler gave his big ‘I want to leave Wolfsburg’ summer interview, and they’ve been at the middle of it since. It’s Bild who this week launched the idea of a winter transfer for the player, describing an exit as ‘inevitable’.
PSG are said to have wanted Draxler in the summer, and it’s pointed out money is no object for the French club. Prestige maybe is, with Draxler’s father older than the Ligue 1 champions, Arsenal holds more history and kudos.
Bild say that Draxler could join his big friend Mesut Ozil at the Gunners, and point out the two German internationals holidayed together after Euro 2016. The German newspaper then add: ‘In the 4-2-3-1 system Draxler could play on the left, Ozil in the middle. The offensive style of the Wenger team is best suited to Draxler. Arsenal is in second place.’
In third place are Juventus.
It’s all speculation from Bild, trying to keep a story going which really needs a boost if it’s not to start looking like Draxler being desperate as nobody wants to buy him. That boost is surely inevitable, but where the interest will come from is anyone’s guess, and Bild’s educated stab at PSG sounds about right.
