Samir Nasri’s loan move to Sevilla has been predictably great, with the Manchester City owned player given the prominence that boosts his ego and therefore performances. Pep Guardiola wasn’t ever likely to combine well with Nasri and so an exit looked likely as soon as the Spaniard was confirmed Manchester City’s manager.
Back after an injury which left him out for four games, the expectations for Nasri’s return are pretty high. Sevilla are facing Lyon in the Champions League on Wednesday, and he is the one who the Spanish side want to rely on.
Surprisingly, Sevilla’s defensive performances are also better with him. In the ten matches he played, the team kept four clean sheets and conceded ten goals. Without him, they’ve conceded fourteen.
Maybe that’s the effort that Pep Guardiola was expecting from him, but the player’s recent success makes a permanent exit likely.
Despite the first reports saying it was just a simple loan from Manchester City, it was later revealed that Sevilla have a €25m buying option over the player. Given how his form has been, it’s likely that Guardiola will not manage him again. Estadio Deportivo call Nasri the “most decisive player in the team”, and Sevilla seem to be in love with him.
The only concern for Manchester City is if Sevilla completely shred Nasri’s hamstrings and then send him back. The player’s last injury layoff came after Sevilla repeatedly played Nasri in matches despite him carrying a hamstring injury,
