Two days ago, RMC Sport reported Borussia Mönchengladbach’s Marcus Thuram has emerged as a ‘priority’ target for Tottenham Hotspur.

It was also explained the 23-year-old is expected to leave the Bundesliga side in the coming months.

Bild have relayed claims made by RMC Sport and then provide the German club’s stance on the France international.

Mönchengladbach chief Max Eberl has stated Thuram’s release clause expired at the end of May, meaning the German club can ‘freely negotiate a possible transfer’, especially when the player is no longer unsellable in the current climate.

“As of now, there is no longer any player with us who has an exit clause. We live in a time when nothing can be excluded,” he told Bild.

Eberl has admitted an offer of around €40m is needed for Gladbach to sell Jonas Hofmann or Alassane Plea, both 28 years of age.

Thuram is four years younger than the duo and the report states ‘Eberl would only be weak’ if there is an offer excess of €40m for the Frenchman.

With Bild pointing out the figure that would make Eberl ‘weak’ to retain Thuram, it’s now time for us to wait and see whether Tottenham will make an offer of €40m+.
