Southampton are considering Lazio goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha for the summer transfer window.

After starting 38 league matches in the previous campaign, the 26-year-old lost his place in the starting lineup this season, following the arrival of Pepe Reina.

Strakosha has been restricted to only nine appearances in all competitions and with a contract expiring in 2022, he ‘could be sold’ by Lazio in the upcoming window.

That’s what TuttoMercatoWeb are reporting and they say the Saints have looked at the Serie A side’s custodian.

It’s claimed ‘many suitors’ have looked at the Albania international and among them is Ralph Hasenhüttl’s side. As per the report, ‘Southampton are on his trail’.

TMW state the Premier League club have followed the keeper in recent months and they view him as a ‘suitable purchase’ for the summer. As well as Southampton, Bologna are also following Strakosha.

Alex McCarthy and Fraser Forster are the two recognised goalkeepers at St Mary’s, with Hasenhüttl preferring the former over Forster in the league this season. The duo, like Strakosha, also have a year left on their contracts.
