Over the past week or so there’s been some doubt around just how much interest Georginio Wijnaldum has received ahead of the summer window.
The midfielder’s contract with Liverpool expires at the end of June and with no renewal seemingly on the way, the player’s agent has been hard at work trying to find a new adventure for the Dutchman.
That saw claims from Germany that the agent had been somewhat overstating interest, with the representative accused of suggesting approaches from clubs which just hadn’t happened.
Gazzetta dello Sport now has a fresh take, and they sound very optimistic for the player. Covering potential interest from AS Roma, it’s stated Wijnaldum has an ‘infinite number of offers’ for a move.
They believe the factor slowing things is the midfielder’s demands, with it being explained the Liverpool player is looking for a three year contract worth more than €4m a season, a figure which is almost certainly after tax.
Such an amount would be a ‘stumbling block’ for Roma, and they’re also not overly keen on signing a 30-year-old.
