Leeds United were initially linked with a move for Nahitan Nandez in August of last year, with the Cagliari midfielder then attracting widespread interest.
At the time, the Italian media reported on the Argentine’s €36m buyout clause, with it thought such a figure could be tempting for interested clubs.
Unfortunately for the player, no move happened and he hadn’t been having the best of seasons until recently. Improved form has seen clubs like Leeds United return to the prospect of signing the 25-year-old, with Corriere dello Sport reporting the Whites are looking to ‘snatch’ Nandez away from the Serie A club this summer.
There’s no longer talk of the €36m clause, with the assumption being such a figure is too high given Nandez’s season. That said, his recent form means his value has risen from the slump it had been in, and the Italian newspaper believe Leeds would have to pay around €25m to complete the signing in the coming market.
Nandez can play a variety of roles in midfield, and it could be this versatility which attracts Marcelo Bielsa.
