Italian journalist Gianluca di Marzio has this morning revealed discussions are now progressing, and it now seems Bellusci is close to getting his move to Empoli.
Talks stalled last week because the Serie A side wouldn’t pay Massimo Cellino’s asking price, but it’s now been claimed the Leeds United owner has reduced this by €300k.
Empoli are keen to sign Bellusci after they recently sold Lorenzo Tonelli to Napoli, and the Leeds United defender is keen on a return to his home country.
This will come as a blow to Empoli’s local rivals Pisa after reports yesterday they were interested in signing Bellusci this summer. Pisa last season gained promotion to Serie B, but the prospect for Bellusci to play in Serie A makes Empoli the favourites to land him.
