Branislav Ivanovic has a contract until the summer at Chelsea, and it’s not clear if the Serbian defender will sign a renewal at the London club.
The 32-year-old has lost his place in the starting XI after Antonio Conte switched to a three man defence, and has been linked to a number of clubs.
Barcelona’s technical director Robert Fernandez has been considering a number of players to replace Aleix Vidal, and Ivanovic is one of them.
Mundo Deportivo believe Ivanovic could be expensive, and that’s an issue. Barcelona don’t want to spend much in the January transfer window, whilst it’s thought Chelsea also don’t want to sell him midway through the season.
It’s been reported Barcelona haven’t made any direct contact to sign Ivanovic, but Mundo Deportivo suggest his representatives have been made aware of potential interest from the Catalan club.
As things stand, Ivanovic is expected to stay at Chelsea until the end of the season, except if Antonio Conte can sign a replacement in January.
Conte will get his own way at Chelsea in the winter window, thanks to his start, and if his wish is for Ivanovic to stay until the summer, that’s what will happen.
