Making just three appearances for West Bromwich Albion since his arrival from Wigan last September, Cédric Kipré needed game time.
The 24-year-old was stagnating under both Slaven Bilić and Sam Allardyce, which is why a loan to RSC Charleroi in Belgium was organised late in the January transfer window.
On February 1st, the centre-back travelled to his new club, where he will stay until the end of the campaign.
Benched for the first three league games, the West Brom loanee finally made his debut a few days ago against Sint-Truiden, with the match ending in a 0-0, thus helping his side keep a clean sheet.
He said: “It was quite intense. I didn’t know what West Brom wanted, and I needed to decide at the last minute. I talked with the [Charleroi] manager for a long time and that’s what convinced me to come here”.
Revealing he was ‘frustrated’ at being on the bench at first, the centre-back is now determined to keep his spot.
