All those who follow the transfer market know there are many ways for a rumour to start. That can be from information from an outlet, agent statements or even from players expressing their wishes.
Now there’s an unusual reason why Manchester City star Sergio Agüero is being heavily linked to Mexican side Monterrey today, and that’s a request from Miguel Layún.
The former Watford player, who’s now playing in his home country, has started a campaign on Twitter telling his club’s fans to go and ask the Argentine striker to join them.
“Retweet so Sergio Agüero can come and play for Rayados,” wrote Layun, adding a list of factors which would attract the player to the Mexican side.
“Send him love. He liked the stadium, they have an esports team, the Basque is here. I don’t know, it doesn’t sound so crazy if we see these points!”
Outlets such as Soy Futbol are even featuring stories showing how much Agüero makes at Manchester City to see if it would be possible for the Mexican side to pay his wages.
The striker’s contract with the Premier League club expires at the end of the season, and with some mystery surrounding his future, he claimed this week he ‘doesn’t know what to do’ about it.
