Manchester City have offered David Alaba €15m per season in an attempt to beat Real Madrid to his signature.
Alaba is out of contract in the summer, with Bayern Munich having stopped contract negotiations in November over the player’s wage demands.
He has subsequently been linked with every big club in Europe, with the prospect of signing an elite-level defender on a free transfer an opportunity that few want to pass up.
However, it has now been established that Alaba has huge wage demands to make the move, having demanded more in a possible move given his new club will not be spending a transfer fee.
AS report that they are offering the Austrian €15m a season and have put that offer ‘on the table’ to try and convince him to move to the club.
Their bid is significantly higher than their biggest competitors for him, Real Madrid, who have are looking at €11m per season.
Thus, the decision rests with the player. If he put history and the ‘sporting project’ at the forefront of his thinking, then he could end up at Madrid, according to the newspaper.
However, if the salary on offer is the ‘differential element’ then it is difficult for Madrid to compete for him, with Manchester City seemingly willing and capable of outbidding them in the auction for Alaba’s signature
