Sold against André Villas-Boas’ will, Morgan Sanson has yet to make his full debut for Aston Villa.
Part of the reason why the Portuguese manager resigned from his job at Marseille, the Frenchman’s departure was seen as somewhat necessary to help with the bank balance, with a figure of €16m or so mentioned in the French press.
However, if France Football are to be believed on Monday, the Ligue 1 side will not be getting the money in one lump sum from the Villans.
The French magazine explain Marseille sold their man for £14m, which was a slight profit on what they gave Montpellier in the first place, but it’s ‘cut in slices’.
The details are as follow: Aston Villa paid €11m up front, and will have to fork out another €4m in the summer.
However, there are also €3m in bonuses available to Marseille should Sanson do well at Villa Park, and they ‘depend on the Frenchman’s performances and various qualifications for the English club’.
If all the criteria is met, then Aston Villa will have paid €18m or so, but if he helps them to achieve successes along the way, they won’t care one bit.
