West Bromwich Albion’s Kamil Grosicki is ‘still looking for a new club’ to boost his chances of representing Poland at the Euro 2020, according to Interia Sport.
It’s claimed the winger was handling some offers in the final days of the winter market.
Fatih Karagümrük, Alanyaspor and Trabzonspor from Turkey, along with Schalke looked at signing the 32-year-old. Nottingham Forest also showed interest, but he ‘rejected’ offers from these clubs.
The Poland international’s current deal with the Baggies runs down at the end of this season and his former club, Legia Warsaw, are interested in him.
They can take the 32-year-old in the coming days since the transfer window in Poland is still open until February 24th.
With a contract expiring in the summer, there are indications the Premier League side would be willing to let him leave on a free transfer now, which could come as an encouragement for Legia Warsaw.
The latter have ‘directly contacted’ Sam Allardyce’s man and opened negotiations with him.
He earns around £40,000 per week at West Brom and his current wages are ‘unattainable’ for Legia Warsaw.
“It is a process that can be carried out, but Kamil should be treated comprehensively: His sporting and marketing potential should be taken into account. For such a man, Legia could build their entire marketing,” a source close to the player said.
Legia Warsaw tried to sign Grosicki in the past, but the deal never materialised because his then club, Rennes blocked the move.
“I remember that Kamil was mentally already convinced of the transfer, just like us. Unfortunately, Rennes’ consent was missing. Finances? As for Kamil’s contract, there were similar amounts as now,” former Legia Warsaw president Bogusław Leśnodorski said.
Dariusz Mioduski, the club’s current chief, was looked at signing the player last summer, if West Brom failed to achieve promotion to the Premier League.
Legia Warsaw will have another opportunity to sign Grosicki and they have until February 24th [deadline day in Poland] to take the winger away from West Brom.
