Aaron Ramsey left Arsenal as a free agent in 2019, having already agreed a deal to sign for Juventus.
During his time with the Gunners, the Welshman won the FA Cup three times, and became one of the club’s most reliable players. He’d been at Arsenal since 2008, and although Ramsey had come through the system at Cardiff City it felt like the London club had become his home.
His exit was surrounded by controversy over an offer for a new contract being withdrawn, and he then had to go to Juve and fight his way into a team that had strength in midfield.
So far he’s won the Serie A title and Supercoppa Italiano, and this season under Andrea Pirlo the midfielder has enjoyed a reasonable number of minutes, with over 1100 so far across the campaign.
TuttoJuve put it to Pires that Arsenal miss a player like Ramsey, and he replied: “Aaron would be perfect in Mikel Arteta’s game system, but he belongs to Juve and he has to stay focused on the Old Lady to win trophies. This year he has already won one, I hope it’s just the first in a long line.”
Ramsey will be 32-years-of-age when his Juventus contract expires in June 2023, whether he’d still be at a level high enough for Arsenal remains to be seen.
