Chelsea have one more day to use their buying option over Alexandre Pato. The striker has been linked to several clubs in Brazil, but none of them can make an official approach until his time at the English side is over.
According to Globo Esporte, Internacional are in talks to sign the player, and the club vice president was in London to have a meeting with Chelsea and learn the 26-year-old’s situation .
“I don’t know if they will use it, I’m not Roman Abramovich. If the purchase doesn’t happen, it will be up to Corinthians to decide what to do. Pato is on vacation and waiting for his future.”
The player’s contract with Corinthians expires in December, and since no clubs have shown intention of paying a transfer fee, the Brazilian side would accept to loan Pato until the end of the year so they wouldn’t have to pay his high wages.
By next month, Pato will be free to sign a pre-contract with any club he wants. Chelsea can’t do it because of a clause in his current deal, but despite what has been speculated in January, when Corinthians were planning to prevent him from signing for other English clubs, these terms were never agreed and he’s allowed stay in the Premier League.
