Everton have emerged as a new contender for signing Christian Eriksen.
The midfielder has struggled since moving Inter Milan in the winter 2020 market, but he starred against AC Milan in the Coppa Italia clash on Tuesday, scoring a stoppage time winner.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, the 28-year-old’s future is ‘still to be written’ even after scoring in the final minutes of the match against Milan.
As per the report, the Toffees made a ‘timid attempt’ for the Denmark international and it could ‘become something more’. Carlo Ancelotti’s side are ‘vigilant’ as they try for the playmaker.
It’s claimed a potential move in January will depend on outgoings at Goodison Park and also the Serie A side’s willingness to let the Dane leave. The latter could now be unlikely because Antonio Conte has ruled out an exit for Eriksen in the ongoing window.
“Eriksen? I have been saying one thing for a month: This is Inter’s squad, no one will come and no one will leave,” Conte said after victory against Milan, relayed by FcInter1908.it.
“We are working with him from a tactical point of view to have an alternative to Brozovic: at a football level he is intelligent and has quality, he is part of the project.
“I’m glad he scored, I urged him to take it. He’s a bit shy, but I hope the goal shakes him up. He’s a good boy. He’s an integral part of the project.”
