Earlier this week, we saw the confirmation that Montpellier striker Gaetan Laborde is a target for West Ham United in the January transfer market.
The French club’s president Laurent Nicollin spoke to the local media on Tuesday and claimed he’d had a call from the player’s agent confirming Hammers interest, even though there were no offers on the table so far.
That sounded like a positive sign for those who want Laborde at the Premier League side, but it seems things had a little setback today.
On Twitter, French journalist Saber Desfarges reports that Montpellier striker Andy Delort picked up a hamstring injury which will leave him out for about three weeks.
The report adds that with this injury, the Ligue 1 side will could ‘block’ the departure of Laborde to the clubs who want him.
Listing the interested sides, Desfarges mentions ‘German and English clubs’, then specifically names West Ham.
So in case the Hammers are seriously in for the 26-year-old, it seems it would take a lot more of convincing for Montpellier to let him go this month.
