Serie B side Ternana could decide to cash in on their star forward Felipe Avenatti, according to claims in the Umbrian media. The Uruguayan came in for criticism last season for his performances, and has been linked with a move to Leeds United in the past 12 months.
Ternana News have reported Ternana could be forced to sell the forward in the current transfer window because his contract expires next summer.
Avenatti failed to reproduce his form from the previous season when Leeds United were tracking in, and subsequently the Serie B side could look to cut their losses on the player.
Ternana have the option of trying to extend the contract of Avenatti, but given his problems with the club’s coaching staff last season they would have to do some convincing.
Leeds United were linked strongly with Avenatti last summer, with claims in the last transfer window they were still continuing to monitor the South American, along with clubs in the Bundesliga.
Throughout last season the Umbrian press reported the 24-year-old could leave the club after his run ins with Ternana coach Roberto Breda. It must be assumed he holds an EU, otherwise a work permit would surely be out of reach.
