James Rodriguez’s lack of appearances for Everton has justified Zinedine Zidane’s efforts to get rid of the player in the summer.
That’s according to Marca, who say the player’s performances do no ‘generate complaints’ from those at the Spanish club.
Rodriguez departed Madrid after five years at the club in the summer, eventually reuniting with Carlo Ancelotti at Everton on a free transfer.
He made a flying start to life at Goodison Park with goals and assists galore but has struggled in recent weeks, missing the club’s last four games with an unconfirmed injury.
They explain that Zidane was ‘clear’ he wanted to be rid of Rodriguez this summer, and while the Colombian star started brightly at Goodison he has since ‘gradually been diluted’ and his performances ‘diminished’.
His absence due to a ‘mysterious injury’ over December has not gone unnoticed, with them continuing to spread the idea that all is not as it seems behind the scenes.
This downward trajectory has ‘given logic’ to Zidane’s decision to get rid in the summer and only reinforced the idea that it was a smart move.
Zidane simply didn’t want the player and his time at Everton is yet to ‘provoke remorse’ over letting him go.
