Montanier says new owners ‘no problem’, not stressed about Nottingham Forest sack

 

Nottingham Forest manager Philippe Montanier has been speaking to Danish newspaper BT about Nicklas Bendtner. Montanier sounds very happy with the former Arsenal striker, and revealed he’s one of the players he most trusts at the club.

Bendtner arrived at Nottingham Forest in the summer but was soon hit by an ankle injury, the striker looks set to return quicker than originally expected, with Montanier telling BT: “He started running last week. And I think this week he’ll train with the ball. However, even then it’s separate from the rest of the team.

“We get to see step by step, but I am optimistic because he is strong and has worked very hard over the past week. I hope he is ready within two weeks, but it is difficult to say an exact time. It depends on the body’s response. We are probably more aware at the end of this week.”

Those are encouraging words for Nottingham Forest fans awaiting the player’s return, but Montanier was also asked about the ownership situation at the Championship club, and the danger of losing his own job.

In a typically Scandinavian way, BT got to the point and asked ‘There’s negotiations on the new owners, and it might cost you the job. Are you a pressured man?’

Montainer tried to make it more about the group and replied: “It’s no problem for me or the players, because it is out of our hands. We are focused on the pitch, and if we change ownership, it will be no problem for us, because we cannot control it. Maybe it’s good news for the club, so we do not care about that.”
