Leicester City star reveals his transfer plans have changed, staying at Foxes for longer

 

Leicester City’s Christian Fuchs has long held a plan to move his family to the US and play for an MLS side. Originally, Fuchs’ plan had been to leave Leicester City and resettle in the US in 2018, and that’s something the Austrian media have been aware of.

Fuchs would be 32 in summer 2018 and considered it the right time to make the move from the Premier League to MLS. However, things have changed and Fuchs has told Austria’s Kleine Zeitung newspaper that his recent Leicester City extension isn’t for show, he plans to see out the whole contract and therefore delay his previous plans.

Kleine Zeitung quote the defender as saying: “Actually, I planned to go to America in 2018. But I have extended with Leicester, it will be 2019.”

Fuchs says he’ll be 33 and an “old man” by then, ready to leave European football behind him. Maybe Fuchs’ change of plans have been influenced by his decision to retire from international football after Euro 2016.

Being able to have breaks during the international periods will help Fuchs prolong his stay at the top level.

After the decision, Austria themselves are really struggling to find a replacement for the Leicester City player, and that’s led to Tottenham’s Kevin Wimmer being tried at left back, with poor results.
