Despite only arriving from Bologna in the summer, Napoli’s Amadou Diawara is already the subject of ‘monster’ offers following his strong start to the season with his new club.
The 19-year-old midfielder has become a regular in Maurizio Sarri’s side, and Il Mattino in Italy say that Napoli have already rejected a €40m offer from Tottenham for the youngster.
The club’s director of sport, Cristiano Giuntoli, is said to have dismissed Mauricio Pochettino’s bid for their starlet, letting the Premier League club know Diawara is currently considered ‘unsellable’ by the Serie A outfit.
This, however, hasn’t disheartened Tottenham’s manager, who remains ‘completely enchanted’ with the young midfielder’s talent.
Napoli have made it clear they are not interested in selling anyone in January, and their only piece of business, if they can pull it off, would be the arrival of Simone Zaza from Juventus/West Ham, depending on whether he makes 14 appearances for the Hammers.
Transferred from Bologna to Napoli for £12.5m despite reported interest from West Ham and Aston Villa, Amadou Diawara has made an appearance (starting three) in all of Napoli’s last six games, having made none before.
Sarri is clearly impressed with the 19-year-old, and it wouldn’t be surprising if Diawara made himself at home in his starting XI playing behind the two midfielders in Napoli’s 4-3-3.
