Stefan Johansen last featured for Fulham in the Cottagers’ 3-0 defeat to Brentford in the EFL Cup on October 1st.
Since then, he has made one appearance for Fulham’s U23 side in November and the midfielder was forced to play in the Premier League 2 after Scott Parker left him out of the league squad for this season.
Johansen’s contract at Craven Cottage runs until 2022, but he will have to look for solutions in the winter market, if there’s no change in his situation.
The former Celtic man will turn 30 in January and speaking to the Norwegian media in November, the player admitted he’s in search of a last “big contract”.
TV2 have interviewed the Fulham man to discuss Norway’s decision to sack Lars Lagerbäck and replace him with Ståle Solbakken.
“You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to understand that this isn’t ideal. You can train as much as you want, but you have to play matches to get fit,” he said.
“I’m sure there will be an evaluation right after Christmas, where we have to agree on what is the best way forward in my career, whether I stay at Fulham or if I move. At least something needs to be done.
“I’ve talked to him [Parker] for a while, but we need to have a more concrete chat about what’s the deal. Of course, I don’t want to sit in the stands for the rest of my career.”
