Brazilian outlet Globo Esporte features today a big interview with Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson, who’s ready for another couple of fixtures with the national team.
The 28-year-old mostly spoke about the high status he achieved for Brazil and his comeback to the team, as he missed the last few games due to a shoulder injury.
Now Liverpool fans are probably more interested on what Alisson plans for the future, as he talked a little about on what keeps him motivated after winning big things for the Reds.
“Each stage has its challenges”, said Alisson (via Globo Esporte).
“In football, as time goes by, we go through different things, having greater experiences, this helps us to perform our best, to take 100% of our performance on the pitch. By becoming a more experienced player, I believe I can contribute to younger players. But when it comes to the Brazilian team, we are talking about competent players, many have experience and those who don’t end up standing out for their quality and personality.”
“Today, our youngsters are athletes of personality, who work in big teams and do not feel the pressure. But, having played the World Cup, I know it’s a unique experience, unlike having played any other type of competition, this can contribute to me and my teammates.”
Regarding the plans to continue play for Liverpool and staying in Europe, Alisson claims he still doesn’t have it very clear.
“I never went into making many long-term plans. Logically, I had dreams, but always with my feet on the ground and very focused on what I have in hand, what I can do now in the present. Determining a target, but making things happen in the now, knowing that the future depends on the now.”
“I have the desire to return to Brazil, but when it will happen, only God knows. We make plans, but I certainly know that God has something prepared for me in the future, but I’m living in the present for now.”
Alisson was asked if he’d only go back to Brazil if signing for his old club Internacional, and he confirmed that.
“I know that God has something for me, I want to follow God’s plans for my life, but my heart’s desire for when I return to Brazil, if God goes to answer it, is to return to Inter, home, the club that I love.”
“I have a lot of respect for all the clubs in Brazil, I might even want to play for some other club, but I don’t know if I would be able to go back to Brazil and not go to Inter.”
The goalkeeper also talked about the controversy involving Jurgen Klopp and Tite, as the Liverpool manager said Fabinho isn’t being used by Brazil as he should.
“I didn’t speak to Klopp. Of course, talked to Fabinho, we saw that he said that. But it’s his opinion, if there’s anyone who can talk about it specifically, it’s Klopp. I believe that Fabinho is the most important player for both the club and the national team, this is my opinion about that, he’s a very important player wherever he is, he always proves his worth on the pitch. He has been playing for Van Dijk and, unfortunately, with his injury we miss him too. He can play in midfield, as a defender, he was a fullback in the past and these characteristics bring even more value to him.”
Brazil are currently playing World Cup qualifiers. They face Venezuela on Friday and then Uruguay on Tuesday.
