Bayern Munich boss Hansi Flick says he expects midfielder Michael Cuisance to be a part of his squad ahead of Wednesday’s match against Borussia Dortmund, calming talk of an imminent move to Leeds United.
The French midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to Elland Road over the last week, with Marcelo Bielsa determined to add a midfielder to his squad.
Reports have indicated that a move was fast approaching a positive conclusion for Leeds, with L’Equipe claiming yesterday that he was closing in on the move.
That was followed up by SportBild’s Christian Falk today, who stated that talks between Leeds and Bayern Munich had entered the ‘decisive phase’ and the player had been given permission to leave the German champions.
“Both trained today, so I assume that both will be in the squad tomorrow,” TZ report him saying when asked about Cuisance and Javi Martinez.
“We all know that shortly before the transfer closes; the situation is not easy. We still have until October 5th.
“Now it is the case that Mika and Javi are still in the roster. You are part of our team. I’m not nervous about transfers. “
That was backed up by Sport.de, who reported the Bayern boss stating that both player’s moves away from the club was “not an issue for me at the moment”.
Those comments would suggest that neither player, particularly Cuisance, is as close to leaving the Bundesliga champions as has been claimed elsewhere.
That may be a bit of a negative for Leeds, although the fact that Flick hasn’t completely dismissed the rumours can always be taken as a positive at this point.
