On September 18th, we covered claims from Italy that Leeds United had made an offer for Erick Pulgar. The bid’s value was put at £10m and it wasn’t considered high enough to please Fiorentina.

The midfielder was described as being ‘non-transferable’, as far as Fiorentina are concerned, however, there was a big hint that stance could change in the face of a higher offer.

Monday’s edition La Nazione, a newspaper close to the Serie A club, reports Leeds United are ‘serious’ about signing Pulgar and now ‘preparing an offer’, which would be their second.

Talks between Fiorentina and the Premier League club are ‘intensifying’, according to the claims, and it’s suggested Leeds could now put €15m forward for the signing.

There’s a possibility Marcelo Bielsa’s side see Pulgar as a back-up option in case they can’t get a deal for Udinese’s Rodrigo De Paul over the line. They’re not identical players, but had similar roles for their clubs last season.

La Nazione don’t dismiss the chance of €15m being successful.
