Chelsea fullback Davide Zappacosta is heading back to Italy, according to reports from the player’s country today.
Journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reports there’s an agreement between clubs for the player to complete a loan move to Serie A side Genoa.
Earlier today, the reporter had already claimed that there were ‘advanced negotiations’ for the transfer, with the player set to spend one season at the Italian side, who shouldn’t pay a fee.
The talks had also been reported by Tutto Mercato Web, who said the player’s agent Alessandro Lucci was trying to find a deal regarding the percentage of Zappacosta’s salary which Genoa will cover.
This is the second straight loan that Zappacosta will have been on. He’d already spent the last season at Roma, for whom he made only nine appearances.
Signed by Chelsea in a €25m move from Torino back in 2017, the fullback still has a contract with the Blues running until 2022. It seems they’ve been having a hard time trying to find a club to sign him permanently.
