Serbian star Aleksander Mitrovic has had an up and down time at Newcastle United, with now definitely being an up time.
The 22-year-old scored twice against Preston last week, and he’s a firm favourtie with fans, becoming something of a cult hero for the followers of Rafa Benitez’s team.
However, reports in Italy claim he could be offered a move away from Newcastle in the near future.
According to Rai Sport journalist Ciro Venerato (via Tutto Napoli), Napoli are following the Serbian forward, and could consider signing him.
The Serie A club are looking for a prolific goalscorer after the departure of Gonzalo Higuain, and have identified Mitrovic as one of the many options.
Mitrovic has been among the goals when played this season, so it remains to be seen if Newcastle would be willing to part ways with him in the middle of the season. It’s got to be considered unlikely, because even if a huge fee was paid, it still wouldn’t compare to what is on offer for the club if they secure promotion.
