Napoli manager Gennaro Gattuso has asked owner Aurelio de Laurentiis to sign Gerard Deulofeu from Watford, and a deal could happen in the next few days.
That’s according to journalist Fabio Santini, who provides an update on the potential move for the Hornets star.
Deulofeu is widely expected to leave Vicarage Road this summer following Watford’s relegation to the Championship, with the player having made it clear he wants the move and club director Filippo Giraldi recently stating there was plenty of interest.
Several reports have indicated that a return to Italy could be on the cards, with the Spaniard still well thought of in Serie A following a successful loan spell at AC Milan in 2017.
Napoli have been named as a potential destination for the Watford man, and according to Santini, that is very much the case.
“Gennaro Gattuso made two requests to Aurelio De Laurentiis,” he told Diretta Mercato on 7 Gold, relayed by Area Napoli.
“In addition to Jordan Veretout, the Calabrian coach also wants Deulofeu. Napoli could satisfy him.
“It is a very hot deal, which could also materialise in the next few days. We will see how things go. The coach wants a team in his image and likeness.”
