There’s a new kid on the block everyone wants, and he’s not your typical target out of Portugal.
Normally after the young, potentially great, starlets, Premier League clubs always keep an eye on the Liga NOS, as Benfica, Porto and Sporting CP churn out (or buy & develop) a large amount of talent.
However, in Moussa Marega’s case, things are a little different.
The 25-year-old Mali international, currently on loan from Porto to Vitoria Guimaraes, is having the start of the season of his life, scoring 10 goals in his first eight games in the league.
Bought by the successful Portuguese club after an impressive first season in the country with Maritimo, the player struggle a bit at Porto, and the loan was swiftly sorted out in July.
Banging the goals at will, ‘Terminator’, as he’s been nicknamed for his powerful style of play, has attracted attention from both Liverpool and Tottenham, which was revealed by FootMercato last week, and has now been backed up by L’Equipe in France.
With more than one outlet reporting the same news, you can expect some truth in them, especially if the latter of the two get involved, and it will be interesting to see if, a) this form continues, and b) how much longer this scouting goes on for.
Thankfully, the Portuguese press are rather generous with their scouting articles, so it should be easy enough to track.
His release clause? €40m.
