Remember when Pep Guardiola had just been announced as Manchester City’s future managers and Yaya Touré’s agent said his client would be out of there as soon as possible?
Well, things have changed.
Over the past few months, Dimitri Seluk has made it clear Yaya wants to leave Manchester City, wanting nothing to do with Pep Guardiola’s new Premier League pet project, which led to a move to Inter being touted.
Considering the Italian club’s lack of financial strength, various possibilities (like a move to China with a view to a loan to the Serie A side) were pushed forward, and it seems it was now all for nothing.
Seluk, speaking to FCInterNews on Monday, reveals his client might not be going anywhere after all, mostly because of FFP regulations.
“I don’t know if he could end up at Milan. Obviously, it’s easier to see him there at the end of next season when his contract runs out”.
At 33-years-old, it seems unlikely Manchester City would consider offering him a contract extension just to get money from the deal, mostly because few teams would be able to afford a 34-year-old on very high wages next season.
It’s a fairly important change of tune from Seluk, and an interesting one at that, considering the last time Guardiola and Yaya Touré were at the same club, it didn’t go so well.
