Alexander Sørloth’s decision to join Trabzonspor on loan from Crystal Palace has not only seen him feature regularly last season, but it has also helped him discover his best form.
The striker scored 33 times and set-up 11 more goals for his teammates in 49 matches in all competitions. This includes a goal and an assist in the Turkish Cup final victory over Alanyaspor.
His impressive goalscoring states has seen him attract interest from all across Europe.
Earlier this week, Bild reported RB Leipzig have identified the Eagles owned player as a target.
The Bundesliga side will have to part ways with Patrik Schick, who will return to his parent club AS Roma. It was explained Leipzig view the Norway international as an ideal replacement for Schick.
“I know there’s interest from clubs. It’s flattering, and builds confidence. But beyond that, I take things with very calmly,” he said.
The 24-year-old refused to respond specifically to the Leipzig rumours, but suggested he would join a club who play a certain style of football.
“If something is to happen, it must be a club that plays attacking football,” Sørloth explained.
“Take this year at Trabzonspor. It is much more fun to score 40 goals and be at the top in Turkey, than to fight at the bottom and score six or seven goals, in a perhaps a better league. It’s not appropriate to go anywhere if you’re not the first choice.”
Last summer, Trabzonspor agreed a deal with Crystal Palace to retain Sørloth until the end of next season and it includes an option to make his transfer permanent.
“I have no comment on that [joining a top club in a top league]. Right now, my focus is to have a nice vacation. Then the plan is to travel back to Trabzon,” the frontman stressed.
