When Manchester City’s Joe Hart makes a mistake for Torino, which has now happened twice, the coverage is almost blanket in the English football media, with a mocking tone. It usually isn’t mentioned, or perhaps even known, that Hart has generally been doing really well for Torino.
The fans love him, his teammates love him, even the club president and former players have come out and said what a good addition he’s been, but that doesn’t sell quite as well as ‘Ha Ha Joe Hart made an error’.
The error against Inter Milan was a disappointment but it hasn’t changed the view of Hart in Italy. Speaking ahead of Torino’s match against Udinese, Hart is quoted by Calciomercato as saying: “I take my responsibilities, but to make an error is something that can happen to goalkeepers. I’m still disappointed about what happened.”
Torino would dearly like to keep Hart beyond the length of his loan from Manchester City but know that’s going to be difficult. Pep Guardiola may not feel he needs Hart in his team, or squad, but Manchester City may look to cash in given Hart’s performances so far.
Quizzed on his future, Hart said: “In this team I’m fine, I’m happy to have the opportunity to be here. My future? It is the match against Udinese, I just think Torino.”
