The Portuguese press have convinced themselves that Arsenal are very keen indeed on Andre Silva. The reasoning is that Arsenal have been repeatedly scouting FC Porto, and the striker has been in good form.
Last season when Arsenal were repeatedly scouting Porto, it was Ruben Neves who was said to the man Arsene Wenger was keen on, so it’s easy to make an assumption on assumptions being made.
Porto travelled to Setubal on Saturday to play out a disappointing 0-0 draw. Portuguese newspaper O Jogo believes none of Porto’s players excelled, Ruben Neves got a low 4/10, with Andre Silva a bit better at 6/10.
O Jogo say Arsenal once again sent a representative to watch the match and it’s stated they ‘won’t desist’ in their pursuit of Andre Silva.
Other clubs present included Sevilla, Monaco, Juventus and Zenit. The newspaper are pretty certain who Arsenal’s target is and say they ‘returned to see the striker in action’.
Andre Silva is 20 years of age, right footed, and Porto’s latest next-big-thing. He’s represented by Jorge Mendes’ Gestifute, and whilst Arsene Wenger isn’t known to be a fan of the agent, the Arsenal manager himself has said he wouldn’t be put off from signing a Mendes player.
