In a chat with Marca, Manchester City loanee Manu García has spoken a little about his move to Alavés, where he’ll have a spell until the end of the season. We’ve already translated a few quotes from this subject earlier, and as it was a big interview, now we come with what he has said about his opinions on the English club to whom he belongs.
The 18-year-old signed for City in 2013, having arrived from Sporting Gijón to join the U-18 squad. He says the adaptation wasn’t exactly easy, as football wasn’t his only focus at the time. And as for every foreigner, the Manchester weather was an issue: “I went to Manchester to play and to finish my studies. It’s true that it’s a little cold and I like to play football in the heat, but I was very comfortable.”
“However, before arriving to Manchester, I already followed the Premier and even though the team was still not well known then, there was a project with Txiki Begiristain receiving much attention.”
“Now you’re seeing that there are young players training with the first team. It’s in the environment, how to live football they have there, the fact that the Spaniards, by having a different game, that we have a little difference.”
Asked about the start of Pep Guardiola’s work, the youngster said that despite the bad form, good results shall return: “It’s hard. They have changed a style of play, Guardiola is very demanding, but it’s difficult to get results quickly. It started very well and I am sure that the team will win and to play well very soon.”
García was also asked to give his opinion on the positioning of Aleix García, another Spanish youngster who’s recently being used by Pep Guardiola as a defensive midfielder. The player had to disagree with the boss on this one: “Aleix is playing more like a six or eight and I like him more like a ten or eight, not so deep.”
