Andrea D’Amico, the intermediary who has helped push Victor Osimhen to Napoli, has dismissed a move to Liverpool, claiming Anfield would not be the right place for his client.

The Nigerian striker has been heavily linked with a move to the Serie A side this summer after an impressive season in Ligue 1 with Lille.

The transfer to Naples has slowly been progressing for several weeks, although recently hit the buffers after Osimhen elected to swap from his previous agent to William D’Avila.

That change, and the subsequent delay, saw rumours of a move to Liverpool emerge, with them named as a potential alternative over the last few weeks.

First, there were reports that Jürgen Klopp had asked his bosses at Anfield to sign Osimhen and this had put Liverpool at the front of the queue for his signature.

Several reports followed, including reports from Italian journalist Ciro Venerato, who claimed that a move to Liverpool was being pushed by the club’s CEO Peter Moore, who just so happened to have a close relationship with D’Avila.

However, a move has now been dismissed by an intermediary in the deal, who says a move to Napoli makes more sense for the forward.

“For now there is the right silence on the deal until the white smoke,” he told Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli, relayed by Calciomercato.

“This afternoon? It is one thing in definition, but I can’t add anything else.

“Gattuso likes all strong players; they managed to make an important axis for him and Giuntoli, in order to make this Naples stronger and stronger.

“Naples is the right place for Victor, not like in Liverpool.
