Alexis Sánchez does not intend to return to Manchester United this summer and has made staying at Inter Milan a priority.
That’s according to FC Inter News, who cover the forward’s situation today and explain what the situation is ahead of the summer.
Sánchez has been on loan with the Italian side since last year, but a series of injuries and a lack of consistency means he’s struggled to find his best form under Antonio Conte.
That has changed since lockdown ended, with FC Inter News stating that he has been putting in ‘superlative performances’ since returning and been Inter’s best player by some distance.
That has not gone unnoticed, and Conte is now pushing for the club to keep him permanently once his loan deal has ended.
His idea is to ask United ‘for a good exit’ so that he can ‘make ends meet’ in terms of his contract so he can do a fair deal with Inter’s owner’s Suning.
In such an eventuality, Inter chief Beppe Marotta could propose spreading Sanchez’s wages over a three-year deal so they can avoid taking too big a hit on their wage structure.
Either way, Sánchez’s agent, Fernando Felicevich, is ‘studying the situation’ to try and find a solution that will leave his client happy.
Manchester United, for their part, are believed to be asking for at least €20m for Sanchez but ‘the feeling’ – presumably at Inter Milan – is that a deal can be done around €10-12m.
Much of it, though, is likely to rest on the Chilean’s wages. It’s well established he’s earning a fortune at Old Trafford and unless they can work something out in that regard, a deal will always remains far off.
