Kalidou Koulibaly is keen on making a switch to the Premier League and ‘clearly sees’ Manchester City or Manchester United as a potential future destination, according to Area Napoli

The defender turned 29 years of age on June 20th and Napoli are aware it will be difficult to receive ‘dizzying offers’ for their star after this year.

He currently earns €10m per season and to change clubs, the centre-back will need a similar salary and an ambitious project.

It’ll not be easy for suitors to deal with Aurelio De Laurentiis because the Napoli chairman has no plans to offer any discounts. They are demanding €90m for the former Genk man.

The price tag is a problem for City, even though the option to play under Pep Guardiola fascinates the player. Sources from England suggest the Citizens could try to lower the price by including some of their players as part of the operation.

João Cancelo, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Angeliño are discussed, however, it’s difficult for Napoli to balance their books between the wages and image rights for these players.

De Laurentiis has made it clear he doesn’t want to sit down for negotiations without an offer of at least €85m.

The Serie A side’s chief would only make an exception if Manchester City are willing to sacrifice Gabriel Jesus to take Koulibaly. That’s because the website claims the Brazilian’s salary is ‘non-exorbitant’.

Area Napoli’s headline states Jesus is a ‘dream’ for Napoli, while City are ‘pushing for Koulibaly’.
