With all the rumours surrounding the futures of Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, it isn’t surprising to see Arsenal looking around for a striker.
A few names have been touted here and there, but the Gunners seemingly have their eyes on Patrik Schick, if Corriere dello Sport are to be believed.
The Italian newspaper report on Tuesday that following RB Leipzig’s reluctance to meet the pre-agreed €29m fee to make the AS Roma striker loanee’s deal permanent, Franco Baldini, once the technical director of Tottenham, has been asked to find a buyer in the Premier League for around €25m.
That’s a decent fee, even for more-strapped-for-cash-than-most Arsenal, which is why Schick may have previously had their curiosity, but he now has their attention.
The forward has also been offered to Spurs, because why not turn to your former team to see if they will spend money, but it appears to be Everton and Newcastle who are the ones likeliest to make a move at this stage.
Perhaps Arsenal are simply waiting to see what happens with Aubameyang’s contractual situation before committing to any moves on the transfer market, but if they are keen on Schick, they might have to move quicker than anticipated due to the competition.
