OGC Nice star Nampalys Mendy is reportedly close to signing for Premier League champions Leicester City.
A few days ago, French newspaper L’Equipe reported Mendy is ‘set to fly to England tomorrow(last Monday) to complete his transfer with the Leicester City’.
Today, L’Equipe have an update on the proceedings, as they suggest Leicester and Nice finally found an agreement yesterday. Leicester will pay around €16m plus bonuses for Mendy, who should sign a four-year contract.
West Ham were also in the race to sign the French midfielder, but the player seems to be keen on a reunion with Claudio Ranieri, who he previously played under at AS Monaco. The prospect of playing in the Champions League next season would also be tempting for Mendy.
The 23-year-old was in great form last season for Nice, and he featured in all 38 league games for the Ligue 1 club. Mendy has been linked with several other sides, and Leicester City’s new found power in the transfer market, as Premier League champions, appears to be working rather well for the club.
