Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes has taken part in an Instagram live chat once again this week, this time with Portuguese rapper Bispo.
In a very relaxed conversation, the player has spoken a lot about other footballers he admires. It started with them talking about Cristiano Ronaldo, saying that when the now Juventus player moved to the Red Devils, he would do what was possible to watch him.
Bruno Fernandes claims he’s been listening to stories from people at Manchester United about how impressive the Portuguese star used to be in training sessions, and said he’s a player he looks up to in his career.
“Cristiano Ronaldo is the ideal person for you to look at and know what to follow in terms of career. You have to have that focus, that determination, the ability to work,” he explained (via A Bola).
On other footballers he who inspire him, the Manchester United star said: “Then I had the opportunity to play against Pirlo and Iniesta, players I admire and who are two of the best midfielders I remember seeing. Deco, Rui Costa and Moutinho, whom I have always admired for their tactical intelligence.”
Bruno Fernandes has also addressed comparisons made by Portuguese football fans between himself and Benfica midfielder Pizzi. The former Sporting player acknowledged the quality from his former rival, saying there should be no competition.
“Regardless of being from Sporting, you have to know how to recognise each other’s talent. It’s something that’s rarely seen today. If someone says that Bruno Fernandes is good, someone will appear saying Pizzi is better. It’s unnecessary, because then we go to the national team and it doesn’t matter if Pizzi is better than Bruno, because Pizzi plays with Bruno to make the national team better. We have to value what is ours, you can tell me that you like A, B or C more, but you have to recognise the talent of others.”
