Nicklas Bendtner is big news in Denmark still, so Nottingham Forest are followed by the Danish media closely. Bendtner is the main story for both Ekstra Bladet and BT newspapers on Friday, although for different reasons.
Whereas Ekstra Bladet have taken an in-depth look at how Bendtner ended up at Nottingham Forest, BT are instead looking at what their call a crisis at the club. It’s on the newspaper’s front page, not simply tucked into the sport section, and it’s explained that Bendtner may face difficulties because of Nottingham Forest troubles.
Bendtner signed for Nottingham Forest so he could rebuild his career in ‘calm surroudnings’ report BT, but they point out a man key in the deal has now left the club.
Pedro Pereira and Philippe Montanier played a big part in recruiting Bendtner, and with Pereira now gone, there’s a worry the manager could be next.
Pereira had expected to work under Evangelos Marinakis, who was set to takeover the club, but after that possibility collapsed, the director of football had to work with Fawaz Al-Hasawi.
BT say they’ve learned the communication between Al-Hawasi and Pereira was ‘non-existent’ and helped to add to a poor situation around the club.
Bendtner’s situation is weaker than previously because Pereira had done ‘everything in his power’ to convince the Danish striker to sign for Forest, and is now gone.
The calm environment Bendtner was looking for has turned into anything but.
