Leeds United loanee wants to take Elland Road to his home country

 

Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci has revealed one of the things he would like to change in Italian football would be to have the atmosphere you get at grounds in England. The 27-year-old is currently on loan with Serie A side Empoli for the season.

Speaking to Goal.it, Bellusci said the environment you get in English grounds is better than that in his home country, and not just in the top flight. The defender said at Leeds United you could be playing in front of crowds up to 30,000, but there would also be families attending the games. Bellusci believes it would be good if Italian football could replicate this, but isn’t sure how you go about it.

“If I could, I would bring to Italy the environment that you breathe in English stadiums, and not just in the Premier: Our games there were 25-30 thousand spectators. Whole families to enjoy the game. I do not know why you can’t do the same in Italy, I have wondered many times why, but I can’t give an explanation,” said the Italian defender.

Despite Bellusci’s love for the atmosphere at Elland Road, he has been critical of the style of football played in the Championship. Since leaving on loan for Empoli in the summer the central defender has questioned the lack of emphasis on defensive tactics compared to that in Italy.
